Dear Reader,
Today, I want to share a life hack that has kept me sane over the years: praying about EVERYTHING.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God
(Philippians 4:6)
I am learning to trust the Word of the Lord, and if the Word of the Lord in Philippians 4:6 is encouraging us to turn our hearts to the Lord "in everything", I believe it is worth paying attention to.
This posture has helped me to develop a friendship with the Lord and a lifestyle of dependence on Him. Talking to the Lord has become my auto-response to situations or developments. In that place, I allow His thoughts to wash over me, and His Word, which I am learning to hide in my heart, shows up as timely reminders when I need them.
I want you to intentionally develop this practice, the practice of praying about everything. It has helped me to keep my heart free from bitterness, anger or worries.
I don't always have the answers, even after praying. But knowing that my good Father hears me reassures my heart. I can trust Him to take care of the details.
Casting your cares on the Lord is an intentional decision (1 Peter 5:7). We can choose to hold on to them like baggage, or surrender them at His feet in exchange for His peace.
And here is the beautiful part of this practice: praying about everything is not about making the Lord the dumpster for all your worries. That is, making Him an option only when there is trouble. Praying about everything is a heart culture that helps you build a precious and beautiful relationship with the Lord.
I think I will share more on this later, but I believe this is a beautiful place to start.
Keep abiding in the Vine, Reader.
Stay with Jesus.
With love and honour,
Mary Oyewunmi
